Introduction

What the hell is Karo?

Karo is an AI box office and venue assistant. Karo is highly configurable and can serve many different purposes to suit your venue or organisation.

We built Karo to answer common queries, offer support in multiple languages, support those with access needs and ultimately, help sell more tickets.

Karo does this by integrating with industry leading box office systems via API connections. Once connected Karo can:

  • Retrieve event and instance / performance level information including availability status. Customers can now ask - "Find me the performance with the most availability on Tuesdays"

  • Retrieve order information from the system

  • Initiate refund transactions where supported

  • Add best available tickets to a customer's basket and take them to checkoutstrong text

  • Answer questions about seating plans

  • Retrieve ticket barcodes

  • And much more...

Karo is in a beta release phase and we highly value product feedback so we can improve.

What type of venues does Karo support?

Any venue or organisation that offers customer support and/or sells tickets or events is welcome to use Karo. If Karo doesn't integrate with your system just yet, you can still use Karo as a standalone chat assistant in our non-integrated tier.

Why is Karo different from other chatbots? What's so special?

Karo has been developed from the ground up by a team who have hands on experience supporting those in the Arts, Culture and Heritage sectors launch complex and high profile digital products, websites and integrations.

Primarily, Karo is the only AI assistant that interacts with industry leading box office systems that power this sector and commercial theatre.

Karo also has several features around access, escalation to human support, custom components (such as oEmbed, tickets, orders etc.) natural language analytics, deep research capabilities and features to automatically improve your knowledge base and spot trends.

Karo has been designed to be as "set and forget" as possible where others require constant updating or require live agents.

Finally, Karo is completely GDPR friendly. No customer data is ever seen by the AI system that powers Karo. Ever.

Does Karo have a support ticket system or live chat?

No, Karo is not designed to be a live chat assistant. We have no plans to develop this feature but recommend tying Karo into your support desk via our "Human Handoff" feature which allows customers to request a human and send a message. Karo will then also summarise the action required by your staff, freeing up time if the conversation is lengthy to read through.

We care about the planet and can't justify using an AI system because of the environment!

We hear you. We are committed to doing our best to minimise the impact of using Karo. So far, the chat application, admin dashboard, our website and this documentation are all powered by green energy using trusted server providers based in the UK.

To maintain quality, Karo is currently powered by cloud based LLMs and we can not vouch for their green credentials. It is in our roadmap to procure or use our own AI models which will be powered by renewable energy. If you have any questions on this part of our operations, please reach out to us!

What languages are supported?

Can I have more than one Karo?

Yes! If your organisation has a need for two separate instances of Karo you can have more than one within the same team account.

Possible use cases might be:

  • Different language versions e.g. only speak in Spanish

  • Multiple venues or venue websites

  • Internal use e.g. onboarding new staff

Currently this feature is available via request only and we reserve the right to adjust your billing accordingly depending on use case and anticipated usage of each Karo instance.

How many users can I have?

As many as you like. We bill by number of Karo instances, anticipated usage and capabilities rather than seats.

For administration purposes, we'd recommend only around 3 people have access to the admin dashboard.

What does Karo integrate with?

We have many systems in our roadmap. Right now, Karo integrates with:

  • Zapier

  • Email

We anticipate rolling out integrations with the following systems within the coming months:

  • Spektrix

  • LineUp

  • Tessitura

  • Ticketsolve

How do I put Karo on my website?

We supply a simple embed code which you can install through Google Tag Manager, or by inserting it into the head tag of your website if you are familiar with HTML. If required, please contact a developer for assistance. Google Tag Manager is the recommended approach for the most flexibility and easy management.
