Creating your first app

Your Karo app is the instance of the agent that you'll embed on your website. SynapTix will set up your first app and give you access. This guide explains each setting so you know what everything does.

App settings

Go to App settings in the sidebar to configure the basics.

App name

Used for internal reference in the dashboard. This is what you'll see in the app switcher and conversation logs. Pick something descriptive — your venue name works well.

Venue name

The name of the venue this Karo instance is responsible for. Karo uses this name when referring to your organisation in conversation.

Assistant name

By default, Karo calls itself "Karo". You can change this to anything you like. Blackpool Grand Theatre, for example, named their agent Frank.

The assistant name appears in the chat header and in any messages the agent sends about itself. Choose something that feels right for your brand and audience.

Allowed domain

The domain where Karo will be active — for example, example.com. The widget will only work on this domain. See Allowed domains for details on how this is enforced.

Contact email

An optional email address shown to visitors who need additional support. If set, Karo can direct people here when appropriate.

Help page URL

A link to your own help documentation or contact page. Karo can surface this when relevant.

Active / inactive

You can take your Karo offline immediately using this toggle. When inactive, visitors will see a custom message you write rather than the chat interface. Use this if you need to pause Karo quickly — for example, during an event announcement embargo.

What to do next

Once your app is configured:

  1. Connect your ticketing system — Spektrix, LineUp, or Ticketsolve. See the integrations section.
  2. Build your knowledge base — the information Karo uses to answer venue questions. See Knowledge base.
  3. Configure the interface — set your brand colours, welcome message, and suggested prompts. See Interface settings.
  4. Get your embed code — install Karo on your website. See Embedding Karo.
